Pictures from the move

I suppose there was one more thing to add to the post below, me and Amy moved upstairs, to a little bit of a bigger room.

Here's a pic from the big move.

And a pic of me and Amy, just because.

Poor man's jacket.

Hello again all.
In the words of my mother, for those of you whom are devoted readers, here's your fix. Calm down you junkies.

I went to a foodbank thing at Amy's church today. Passing out food and clothes and toys and such. What an experience. Makes a guy feel human, alive and able. I'm sure more will be written about this later, as now I'm not sure I cold find words to properly address how I feel.

Tomorrow a couple of things are lined up, and more shows this weekend, booked and paid.

I'm gonna try some seafood this week I hope. Again we didn't make it out to get screeched in, didn't really feel like it.

To describe my name, it's literal translation is "the sun"... It's ow fishermen around here describe the sun.

Cudos for now.

A new day, a new show.

So, fourth show of the week tonight, pretty excited for that. I'm having a great time out here. I'm gonna buy a squeezebox. Whats a squeezebox you ask? It's my new newfie word of the day. It's a musical instrument that is shaped like a box, that when squeezed, produces a noise.

I woke up today at 2pm. I think that's a record.

Tomorrow we're going to get screeched in.

Living here in newfoundland is quite a different experience from that in Ontario. People here, much to gran's predictions, are 100% NICER. People aren't afraid to say hello to one another passing by, say sorry if they let a door close on you, and so on. It's really intriguing to see such a noticeable difference within the same border.

I apologize for not keeping up with my emails. I get so many per day, and so little time to really sit down and hash out a bunch of emails. And I quote...

"Oh, you don't have a degree in anything? Well why don't you go get one?"

Jerk.

Anyways, everything else is going well. It is very foggy out this morning, more foggy then I've seen so far, and still, this, apparently, is nothing.

That's all for now.

Hello all.

Another day, another entry.

Still no word from the Y, and as such, I've been on the job bank canada all day applying for various positions.

Played a show (first one in a different province) here in st johns, many more booked, one tonight actually.

I hear my ratties are doing well, which is good.

Not much to say today, nothing particularly exciting has happened. Been watching lots of The Simpsons. Gonna try to get screeched in agian on saturday.

They had a bottle of screech at the pub I played at last night, but decided to wait.

Wish me luck.

Chips'n a pint.

Hello,

On a quick break here before I'm out on the town again. I just got in. Been making contacts in the local music scene here. Looks like I'l have shows the next two weekends at least.

A couple quick things to list here.

1: Kirley, you're a queer.
2: Wyatt, consider it done, in the next day or so.
3: Gran, I just got in from a traditional irish pub, where I treated myself to a pint of guiness and a bowl of chips. Could hardly understand the way the waitress was speaking, but a brilliant accent.

Found a local tattoo shop, looks good, prices are decent. Expect new ink when the price is right.

Also, got an interview at "Little peoples workshop" sounds like fun.

That's all for now. I'm having a blast.

Well hello again readers.

I feel like a newspaper relationship counsellor when I type that.

Again, I had quite the adventure last night. Went off to george street with the girls here, had a riot. We went a little to late, so I couldn't get screeched in.

The bars were PACKED. I need a show here, there were solo acoustic acts in every place I was in.

The first thing I received here in newfoundland, in the bar scene, was a big huge hug from some guy at a door, he wanted to give me a hug, so I hugged him. Things are a wee bit different here.

So here's some more pictures from my hike at signal hill.

Enjoy.

The first of many pictures to come, as I don't have the proper programs to convert the sizes yet.

I took lots of pictures up on signal hill so I'll be sure to get them up.

Me.

End of Day 1.

Already found out a bunch of new words. The best of yet is a word who's short form sounds like "Couldn'ts" Just sound it out. It stands for couldn't eat it. As in, left overs...

In a sentance... "What are you eating?" "Couldnt's from last night..."
Neat eh?

Went to a chineese food place for supper, was decent. Tomorrow night I'm getting screeched in. Already wrote a bunch of new music. I'll be trying to book some shows in the coming week.

What an interesting experience this has been so far, and only on day 1!

I should be heading up to signal Hill tomorrow, and as such, will have LOTS of pictures. So tomorrow by supper, lots of pictures, I promise.

I hope to try some seafood this week as well, and yes dad, I know you'd love to have some lobster... maybe I'll try some for you haha.

Thanks again to all for the support. And mom, I miss you too. =)

I'm off to bed.

My first couple hours in newfoundland.

Wow.

Simply Wow.

How do I even start this one out? Got here and a couple of things were very noticeable right of the hop. Firstly, the air dosn't stink, it hit's you right in the lungs with each new inhale. Secondly, not only do people smile to one another here, but it seems as though people are genuinely happy. Such a different swing to life here, and that's only after a few hours here.

We walked downtown st johns for a couple hours. INCREDIBLE. The core of this city is so alive and so busy ALL the time. Walking down the street, you can hear guys playing accordians, guitar, singing... everywhere, all traditional music, my Gran would be so jealous.

We're going out for supper, then back here. I've gotten basically completely unpacked. I've taken a few pictures, I'll be sure to upload them tonight.

The temperature here is 17degrees, but with a beautiful breeze coming off the water. The water is literally a walk away. Out the balcony window, I can see signal hill, the st johns marina, and a beautiful hillscape.

I apologize for the spelling mistakes, I'm still getting used to typing on such a small keyoard.

Mom, the flight was fine, I'm doing great.

I love you all... except you kirley... you're still a queer.

me.

4am, orange juice.

So this is officially the earliest I've ever woken up, to do ANYTHING.

I'll update as the day goes on.

4am: Wake up call, delicious OJ.
4:11 - What a tastey time to write on the blog..

I hate goomba's.

Again, I'm eating macaroon's and stale coffee, and watching Crossing Jordan. Today is my last day in Ontario. I have much to do today, and I'm sure I'll have lots of fun doing it all.

I need a new backpack. Now, for those of you who know me well, you KNOW I'm not going to buy a normal backpack to carry around, Oh no. I'm buying a WWII Medic Bag to carry all my shtuff in.

Not a big entry today, as I'll make another one tonight.

By the way, for those who don't know, a goomba is this little guy in super mario that you have to jump on. I ALWAYS underjump and get hit by them, leading to my demis. I hate goomba's.

-1 day from NL.

Hello again, avid readers of my electronic journal medium.

A couple things for today.

Firstly, for anyone who would like to make comments, insults or otherwise, there is a button at the bottom of every post, usually highlighted in a different colour, that reads "Comments". Click on this and you will be prompted with the opportunity to fill in a text box with said words, directly below there are a series of choices with which you should be inclined to click on ‘anonymous’, so you don’t have to sign up for anything to post, but remember to leave your name, so I know who wrote what!

Next, I’d like to expressly thank everyone for their support on my latest adventure. I’ll have many stories I’m sure, many dinner-time “I remember when’s”. Robin and Sydney, it just wouldn’t be my style to send a thank you card, or a letter in the mail… So here you are… Imagine some weird guitar chords behind it, with my off-key campfire singing behind.

Thank you very much for what you did give,
With your donation I’ll be able to live,
A little bit longer in the big N-L,
I’m sure a crazy story I’ll be left with to tell.

See you on the flip side you crazy Brantford cats.

Please call once a month to make sure cam is lovin’ my rats.

I’m hoping to get another tattoo out there, So I’ll be sure to keep updates on that as well. As for right now, I’m going to do more searching in the vast abyss otherwise named my closet, and see if I can’t find my Ipod.

Thanks for reading.

me.

Coffee at my desk, getting down to the wire.

Well hello there reader,

This will be a first of many things for me. It's been a long time since I've been to Newfoundland. 21 years.

It's been a couple years since I've 'blogged'. As such, It'll probably take me a little while to get everything going again what with taking pictures, uploading them, putting them on here and the rest of it. Fear not... Many good stories await, of this I'm sure.

I am right now eating an absolutely delicious macaroon cookie my Gran made me. Well, I don't know if she made them for ME, per say, but I've eaten at least 80% of them. Also stale coffee, which is not the best accent I could find for the cookie, but it was better then water.

I have my clothes packed, and only a few more essentials to pick up before I leave... Namely... beef jerky and socks.

I'm not so much nervous about being away from home, as I intend to have pictures of family close at hand, as an aid to homesickness. I AM however, nervous for the flight.

--

Apparently my plans for this weekend are looking pretty party-hardy. I'm getting screeched in on saturday night... For those of you who know what that means... Wish me luck. I'm hoping to go basically door-to-door on George street (the bar district of st. Johns) to hand out demo cd's, in hopes of booking some shows out there. I'll be sure to keep updates on the show's too, incase anyone wants to come out here to see me play... haha.

I'm off for now, I'll try my best to keep this updated regularly.
